How to get Truemobile 2300 and Windows instant messages to work

Question

I have an Inspiron 5150 and a Truemobile 2300 router. If I hook up the computer to the cable modem directly, MSN messenger works fine, but when using the router, fome functions such as 'send file' or 'audio conversation' does not work. Reading these forums, I understand that there are several dell owners that expireinces the same problems. Microsoft talks about the problems in this article, but frankly I don't understand how to adjust my settings in order to get messenger's functions to work. I understand that some ports needs to be opened, but what ports and how to do it? Have anyone solved this situation or knows the solution to this? Regards, Jonas (Sweden)

Go to Advanced Settings and then to Administration Settings.  Select  'Enable UPnP function' and Messenger will be good to go.  You don't need to open any ports. Neill

Neill, where is that  Advanced Settings you are talking about?

You have to log into your router. On the web interface there are several options at the top (probably blue squares with white letters). Choose Advanced Settings and a small warning screen will pop up; just hit OK and proceed. If you don't know how to log into your router, let me know.
