I have just download the driver and installed the drivers its says this message on the screen: Severe INF error Video driver not found. Then another message pops up Severe Setup was unable to complete the installtion. Try to setup your display adapter with a standarde VGA driver before running setup. When I pressed ok it return to the desktop. I am only running in 16 bit color mode. What should I do now?
Probably did not mod them properly.... but instead I suggest use the Omega ATI drivers linked in my sig (gawd I'm saying this a lot tonite, feel like I'm pimping out), no mods are requied they will install right off the bat.

I apperciate your help. I click on the link and it takes me to the page but what do I do I cannot find the download link for the drive. Can you please gide me what to do.
sorry, indeed I remember I had to install the modded Catalyst driver twice (install, reboot, install). But the Omega driver will do it, as well (they're just less 'standard' to me, but that's a personal opinion ).
I have download the file you told me. I am going to try to install it now to see what happens. Ok I just installed and it WORKS and thank you for your help.
The latest one supports the 4.6 Catalyst, I just installed it without any problem.
Booting in VGA mode (F8 just after Dell Logo), uninstall ATI stuff (everything, incl. ATI display driver, but I did not reboot, as required by the ATI uninstall proc), mod the 4.6 driver and install.
No I did not try the mod tool form becuase the one I download works. I downloaded at omegadrives.net and the version I download is 2.5.5.1. It works fine. Can you please tell me if that has 4.6 Catalyst. When I have to reinstall the operating system (W2K) I will try the one you tell me. But anyway I will download it. Thank you for your help. Oh by the way can you please tell me what is the difference with the mod tools and the one I downloaded?
Not much difference, the mod tool just allows to install the original Catalyst driver (i.e. the driver itself and its parameters remain untouched), whereas the omega driver (which is also based on ATI's driver) comes witth tons of 'customized' parameters, that are appearently tuned for major games...
HI Pan_be,
Thank you for explaining me what is the difference between the two version of the software. Now I know what is the difference. When I tried to install the driver it says inf not found before but now since you gave me the website I will try that also.

Take the 'modded' ATI Catalyst 4.5 driver, it really work fine.
I can't remember the link, but you should find it easily through Yahoo.
Cheers

Hi Mike85C,
From the www.OmegaCorner.com website, under Radeon Drivers, Win2k/XP,
this is the direct link of the first mirrored file http://www.newgenerationorder.org/rad_w2kxp_omega_2551.cab
although I don't know if we're allowed to post such direct links (sorry if not... will not do it again...)
Regards,
Rick
