The video is ATI 9000, and is integrated - and non-upgradeable, if that's an issue.

It is a decent system for the money - make sure you get the display resolution you want (XGA or SXGA+).

You forgot to mention one thing, what are you going to be using it for??

Actually, the 700m has been released. Just checked on their website and it is listed. Have a look at it.

I just got my 600m yesterday which is very close to that config and I love it. Nothing to complain about. Great system. Perfect size. The Intel 2200 card works great. I just went on a little wardriving session and picked up over 40 WAPs within a few miles. Not sure what card you're getting though. If you do buy it, get I8KGUI (SP). You can track all your temps and control your fans.

My selection of WiFi card is Intel 2200. I like it b/c of 802.11g support. What is that temp control you're talking about? Is it something you download?

Just  called Dell. They said its 25 days built and about 5 more days to get to your door step. I think I can dig with 600m. I'm a travelling sales/marketing. So I need something light and small. 700m might be too small as I found Sony Vaio VGN S150 pretty small.

I'm definitely going to SXGA+ b/c XGA is too big and fuzzy. :) Any words on RPM? Thanks

It's called I8KfanGUI. It's awesome. You can check your CPU, GPU, DIMM etc. temps and control your fans. As well as a few other things. I'd also suggest getting Speedswitch (both from same site) and they allows you to control your CPU speed.

Yes pretty much the BIOs in a Windows GUI but even more than the BIOs. The link is http://www.diefer.de/i8kfan/.

the harddrive is most probably 5400rpm, 7200rpm harddrive are also available but on 60gb only

the xga will not be fuzzy i think, since it's the native resolution.. but if you lower the sxga+'s resolution, that will be very fuzzy..

make sure you get the right screen and probably you want the 64mb video just in case you are doing digital photos and gaming or whatever related..

Well, in the last year (almost to the day) I've gotten 2 Dell desktops and 2 laptops. They were all way ahead of the date but the last one I got (just yesterday) which was a 600m took over a week. The 700m might take more time because it's brand new and they might be used to making them fast. I'm sure get it before that date though.

Just ordered a 700m via online dell. No indication when I placed the order as to how long build and delivery time would be. I assumed that it would be like previous lead time on other computer I have ordered online ie. Gateway, HP, Compaq etc. However I see that they estimate a ship date of 9/2/04 when the order was placed 7/28/04. Is Dell really that slow? I have been looking at the message board and have seen many horror stories of delayed orders.

What's a person to do? I would think that 2 weeks should be the expected date. I guess Dell spends all their $$$ on their print ads.

Thanks

hmmm.... i got mine right at the 7th day after i order online.. they're not working around here for weekends, so i think i can make it 5 days.. it's really odd that they need that much time to deliver a laptop..
