NMO Configuration

Hi all,

We have to install and configure a NMO for an Oracle CRS with 2 physical nodes and 1 oracle instance running over a VIP. Our question is the following:

Should we configure the backup through VIP or like the backup of a RAC (through physical nodes)? If it's selected the first option how many Oracle licenses will NW consume?

Thanks a lot.

Isn't that with CRS you are still using RAC thus nothing would change when it comes to NW?

Our customer aren't using RAC in spite of CRS is installed. Then, when we install the NMO on both physical nodes, will we have to create in NW the VIP client and configure it to do the Oracle backups?

I'm not familiar with such setup so I have no idea how that works in such setup. As for license, if you move to 7.4SP2 you no longer need cluster client connection so one worry less. As for setup, if CRM would give you VIP than I assume that would be the way to configure NSR_CLIENT in RMAN script and have backups run.

I have just configured this setup and I have been able to see as VIP and physical nodes need a Universal Client License each one and the physical node where VIP is allocated consumes Oracle License for Linux as well. It should be the VIP that consumes the Oracle License for Linux.

It seems clear that this isn't a O.S. cluster and NW isn't compatible with this customer setup. Do you agree?

In RMAN script I configured the NSR_CLIENT=VIP

Have you used NSR_CLIENT in RMAN script before running it for the 1st time?

Has anybody had to configure a similar setup?
