Another VSS issue

On many of our Windows 2008 R2 Backup Clients we have the following error with VSS SYTSEM FILESET save set:

savegrp: suppressed 2 lines of output.
System Writer - Error saving file path C:\program files\trend micro\officescan client\..\bm\tmbmsrv.exe that is associated with Shadow Copy path \\?\GLOBALROOT\Device\HarddiskVolumeShadowCopy123\program files\trend micro\officescan client\..\bm\tmbmsrv.exe. The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect

The file "tmbmsrv.exe" is located in the directory "C:\program files\trend micro\bm\".

Why is there a ".." for the parent directory in the path? Is it a VSS thing?

If you have a Powerlink account, check out esg116035 to see if it matches your current situation. You can also check Microsoft articles KB/955078 and KB/290301.

Microsoft Knowledge Base article 290301 contains more information about the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility. This issue is due to Microsoft problem which has been documented under:

Hope this helps.
