vnx san direct connect
is it possible to connect a vnx5100 directly (without using fc switches) to 2 vmware esxi hosts?
i know about a case when this was not possible (brocade hba).
couldn't find any info.

In theory it should be possible, yes.
When it comes to specific HBA vendors and possible issues I can't help - but if you stick with the supported qlogic/emulex cards you shouldn't have any problems.

I failed such connection with VNX5300 to HP server equipped with HP StorageWorks 81B cards (aka Brocade 815).
Must go with another type.

It should be possible, even with a Brocade HBA but I haven't done so myself. I did check the guides and didn't see anything about it being "not supported" though so I'm guessing it should work provided the support matrices are in alignment.
