San Copy migration and windows mounts
Hello, I am doing a San Copy migration from one Clariion to another. I have done the process before copying LUNs from array to array. But, what if the LUNs are from Windows and they have multiple mount points associated with a LUN? Does the host keep track of the mount points? If the host is staying the same and not being rebuilt to a new os, will the mount points stay the same as the new SAN Copy LUNs are presented? Should I take any precautions here?

Hi,
SANCOPY does a block level copy, Every host write a disk signatures on the disks, during the SANCOPY even these would copied as it is a block level copy, if in case, when using the LUNs on the different host, if you get any issues related to disk signature then you need to contact the OS vendor.

It is always advisable to stop all IO on the source LUN/disk before running SAN Copy. If you have the ability to run incremental sessions, then you keep running the incremental sessions and take a small maintenance window where all IO is stopped (by unsharing the mount) and the last SAN Copy run is completed. Are you making the target LUN available to the same host which has the source LUN?
