ATI Radeon 9700 on Inspiron 9100; connecting with DVI

Question

I have developed a stability problem when connecting my DVI output to my DVI projector input. Initially it worked than would always crash. The Dell projector help desk did get it working by un-installing the driver and re-installing. This lasted until I did a shut-down. Today connecting the DVI makes the whole system shutdown. I can use the analog connector but this does not allow me to see my computer screen  together with the projector. This cannot be overcome with any toggeling of the F8 key. My driver is dated 12/22/2003  version 6.14.10.6396

Something to try, Uninstall the ATI Video Driver & related software. Install the Omega Driver for ATI Cards http://www.omegadrivers.net/

So, thank you! This has corrected my problem. Now both analogue and DVI work without crashing. The F8 key does toggle proerly between the 3 modes.

The resolution with DVI connector allows me to use the very high resolution settings and get crisp images.
