Keyword search with AND and OR operators

I am doing a search on our SourceOne Discovery Manager 7.22 and have run into issues on what i consider a fairly simple keyword search.

My keyword search is basically:  one OR two OR three OR (four AND five)

i have tried entering these keywords in several

- one two three (four AND five)

- one two three ((four) AND (five))

- one two three ("four" AND "five")

But all of these searches yield a lot more results than expected.  I'm starting to think that it is taking the word "AND" as a search term.

ANY insight would be appreciated.

Hello Krosscheck,

You are absolutely right that the word "AND" and "OR" are treated as search terms when used in the keyword field. Sourceone searches do not use these terms. To perform an "AND" operation, you must use 2 keyword fields. Search terms in two fields are treated as an "AND" operation and words within the same search field are treated as an "OR" operation.

See page 41 of the SourceOne 7.2 User guide for more details.

I hope this help!

Thanks for clarifying that Isi.  Does that mean that we can't make a single search that uses both OR and AND?  I'm trying to avoid doing 2 separate searches because we need to get all the results into a single export.

Hi Krosscheck,

I personally believe what you are trying to achieve is doable using "Search Expression" field of Discovery Manager. That is the only field where I believe AND OR NOT can be used as Boolean operators.

In about mentioned guide refer to page 206,207 and 208.
