I think it's called coil whine and I have this too. It appears whenever I move my mouse on high DPI settings, for example, good thing I use headphones most of the time.
It's annoying, but as I know it's kinda normal. Some may have it louder, some might get luckier, but it doesn't point on any hardware problems.
I just watched a video of what a coil whine sounds like and I’m pretty sure that’s not what I have. In the video I watched, the coil whine sounded like a constant highpitch squeaking sound while I’m hearing an louder lower pitch sound every 15-30 minutes, not consistently.

I've noticed a screeching noise on my Dell G7 7790. According to google, this is a coil whine issue. In my case, the coil whine has been removed after turning off the "thunderbolt" support from the laptop's BIOS
I think I have the same issue. It's a high-frequency warbling noise, that appears as soon as I plug in my expensive Audio Technica headphones (I don't get it with any other headphones with the Dell G7 17 7790, and I don't get it with these same headphones plugged into a MacBook Pro). I have all the latest updates and drivers from dell support. If I don't play any audio for a while, then the noise stops after about 20s (as if the audio hardware is going to sleep?) but then as soon as a sound plays again, the noise restarts. Any help gratefully received.
This noise is giving me a headache, it sounds as if it is coming from the SSD. I had the same problem years ago when I first got a cheap SSD. Only had this G7 15 7500 a few days and I think it is going back.

Andrew7373,
Thanks for posting. Apologies that your system is not performing as you expected.
Regarding the noise you're hearing, does it appear to come from the speakers? the area where the fans are located? or from under the keyboard?
Here is information from the Dell knowledge base you may find helpful:
