Hi,

I am having similar problems as well. Got myself a 8600 with truemobile 1350. I have installed winxp pro sp2 and the latest drivers for the WLAN card. But the IE will not access the internet over the WLAN. On the status window of the WLAN connection, it shows connected! One thing worth a mention is that there are no packets received, only packets are being transmitted.

Over the ethernet connection, the thing works well but i did not pay a fortune to have a cable hanging from my notebook!!

be sure all firewalls are disabled (including WXP firewall)...

Nope, the WXP firewall is down. I have ZoneAlarm, but it was there before formatting when everything worked, and anyway I have tested without it and the result is the same.

I do not have any firewalls installed on my notebook. I have tried almost everything that I have come across on this board as well as other sites on the internet.

Do I have to program anything extra on the DSL router (its from Draytek) because I have another PC running Win XP with a Siemens connectbird WLan adapter and that configuration works very well.

thanks in advance

What model Draytek router do you have?

Actually I have the Draytek 2500We router which I got for free as a part of new DSL subscription deal.

TIA

I obtained a copy of the 2500We manual from Draytek's Web site. Assuming you haven't created any entries in the router's MAC access control list, it looks like the router should interoperate with the 1450. I found one thread discussing a similar problem with the TM1400 at the Draytek Australia support forum. It was finally resolved with a combination of router and wireless card software/firmware upgrades. I didn't find any articles specifically about the TM1350, though. Is the Siemens adapter an 802.11b/g card like the 1350? I wonder if the 2500We is having difficulty with the "g" standard devices.

hi folks!

First of all, thanks to all who have taken time to read and reply to the queries. I have the wireless connection working...finally.

Ok! I downloaded the latest firmware for the DSL Router Draytek 2500We. Then I connected my notebook to the router using the ethernet cable. This config allowed the wireless connection to be established as well... IP addresses etc etc.

Afterwards I removed the ethernet cable and voila...my wireless connection remained intact. Also my Internet Explorer made a seamless switch to using the wireless connection.

Yoo hoo..guys have a nice week end!

Cool, I'm glad you're ok. Now, guys, about the thread starter? ;)

Does ANYONE have any hints for me?

Astromarine,

Sorry! That shouldn't have happened!

Which wireless router do you have? If the 1300's getting a good signal from the wireless router, but isn't receiving an IP address from it, there may be a mismatch between the router security settings and the TM1300 client. Is the router firmware current?

When you reinstalled XP, did you install Service Pack 1, and Microsoft's post-SP1 "wireless rollup" package and their "WPA Wireless Security Update"?

Alternatively, you could update the system to Service Pack 2.

Hi Astromarine,

Why don't you try out the following: Let the notebook connect to the router using the ethernet cable temporarily. Then try to set up the wireless connection, which I am sure will work because then the router is also accessible over this cable. Once you have the wireless connection all configured, u can unplug the cable.

Thanks for the replies guys. The router is a WAP11 by Linksys, and I have all the Windows Updates I could find. The router is not updated, though. Anyway, today my (non-Dell) desktop has arrived, with a PCI wireless card, so I'll try to configure that from scratch. If I can, I'll try redoing the laptop in the same way. If not, I'll come back here.

OK, guys, I really need help here. After assembling and configuring my new desktop system, I am having the same problem as with my laptop. I'm getting really frustrated, because I have no clue what could be wrong. My wife's Dell, which was not reinstalled, still works perfectly. Both machines I installed from scratch recently simply don't work. The WAP11 is updated, the drivers as well, the windows updates are all installed, and recently I even turned off WEP security on the AP. nothing works. I can get an IP address just fine via the LAN, but not on wireless. Please help me out.

Astromarine,

Which version of the WAP11 do you have? I retired a WAP11 Version 1 access point in late 2002 because of problems setting up MAC-based security in the device.

Given that you now have two systems that are unable to obtain an IP address wirelessly from the WAP11, I wonder whether it's time to consider replacing the WAP11. We replaced ours with a Netgear ME103. We also have a Linksys WRT54G running as a router at another site. We're having no difficulty with either one.

Thanks, maybe it's time to try that. Funny thing that I dunno if it's proper behaviour or not. If I have WEP configured on the router, and try to access with any machine while giving the WRONG password, it will still log me into the wireless network. At least it says it does, even though there's no Internet. Is that normal? I thought I would get a "password rejected" window, but maybe that's how it works...
