Any flashing lights in a sequence? Any beeps at all? When you take out the CMOS battery, leave it out for 15 minutes then even though it tests good, replace it. I have see batteries test good but not work properly in the system.
Yes, it is probably about 5 years old. Totally out of warranty. (I just can't justify putting an extended warranty on a $400 laptop).
I am reading the link now, but I'm not finding anything specifically relating to me.
The unit worked fine the night before, battery was fully charged, it was running on a/c.
The next day when i went to turn it on, it was totally dead. No sounds or lights at all. I find it hard that both the adapter and battery would decide to die overnight. It cant be a software issue, it never powered on. I'll replace the bios battery, if that isn't it, wouldn't you think that would be a hardware issue? Some connection decided to fail overnight?
NO sign of life, NO light on laptop (there is only one led - on very front edge, under touchpad), NO sounds, Nothing. No beeps, No hdd spin up, NO optical drive spin, Nothinig. Total Dead.
I will take the battery out for 15 mins and see. I'll test it again before I put it back into laptop, but how would I know if it was the problem, unless I need to buy another one and see if that one starts laptop?

What model computer? Is it still under one year warranty? Contact Dell Support directly if it is under warranty. This forum is a user to user forum. https://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04?c=us&l=en&~ck=mn

You can take it to a local reputable repair shop? Maybe charge $50.00 to open it up? Wish you luck.
Again, did you try the other suggestion[s].........work?
