luck3n,

I cannot verify if 16gb of ram will work in this computer. The specs, as you know, only support 8gb.

Memory module connector This system has only one memory slot.
Memory module capacities 2 GB, 4 GB and 8 GB
Memory type 1600 MHz DDR3L
Minimum memory 2 GB
Maximum memory 8 GB

I see some sellers on ebay with 16Gb DDR3L specifically claiming them to be for the 3543. Has anyone tested this to see if it works? I see lots of posts with people asking, but none with anyone confirming.

Long story short.....16GB is not going to improve performance......unless you have a specific gaming computer playing sophisticated games.  Just saying.  Also, with a nice Nvidia graphics card.

I know there has been some time passed, but I have a somewhat definitive answer; I have an Inspiron 15 3543 with i3 5005u that I just upgraded to 16GB ram. I am running a 256GB SSD in it and it has been quite responsive with 8GB RAM running Windows 7. I ordered from eBay, and it arrived today. https://www.ebay.com/itm/New-16GB-DDR3-1600-MHz-PC3-12800-SODIMM-204-pin-Sodimm-Laptop-Memory-RAM-DDR3L/332146234911?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649 I put the new RAM in and it went right to work. I plan on upgrading this laptop to Windows 10 this weekend. Even though Dell never tested this model with 16GB RAM, IT SURE WORKS FOR ME! I wish everyone the same success that I have had.
