Suprised no one has replied.

Did you manage to update in the end?

If not perhaps try a different Windows machine?

Hello Jimaah

Thank you very much for your reply.

Unfortunately I don't have another machine and our IT Department has tried many different ways to upgrade the Dell D6000 Docking Station Firmware without success.

I generally upgrade Software/Firmware to be on the latest version to resolve any bugs and security issues, as well to receive any new features, but this time I think I'll have to leave the Dell D6000 Docking Station Firmware at the version already installed. Unless if anyone has managed to successfully upgrade the Dell D6000 Docking Station Firmware and can provide all the steps needed (including any hints and tips).

Many thanks and have a good day.

Hello Jimaah and Community

There is now a new firmware version for the Dell D6000 Docking Station (A03) and could now successfully upgrade it with that version.

I powered the Dell D6000 Docking Station down by unplugging it, unplugged all items from the Dell D6000 Docking Station, waited a couple of minutes, put the power adapter in the Dell D6000 Docking Station, waited a couple of minutes (just in case it needs time to boot), Plugged the USB (not USB-C) into the laptop and upgraded by right clicking on exe and selecting Run as Administrator and follow onscreen instructions.

Make sure that no other programs are running.

Make sure you follow all the Dell instructions carefully.

After completion, powered down laptop and Dell D6000 Docking Station, waited a couple of minutes, put all plugs/cables back into the Dell D6000 Docking Station, powered Dell D6000 Docking Station back on, waited a couple of minutes, and then plugged into laptop.

If it doesn’t quite work, leave all cables/plugs in and just reboot laptop to force Windows Plug’n’Play and should work.

Best of luck.

Using A03 still hangs at updating gl hub controller.   Using usb-a and followed previous instructions.  When will dell fix this issue?

thanks, worked for me!

upgrading my D6000 A03 v17 to A03v19. Before using your tricks the upgrade got stuck, as what the initial poster of the question experienced.

used USB-A (so not C), all connections detached, no other programs and with the power switching as mentioned. worked like a charm, now it only took a couple of minutes, not more.

I have successfully updated D6000 FW from A02 to A03 some time back.
Now when I try to update from A03 to A04, buy starting the update software Dock_D6000_FW_Updater_A04_F1TXX.exe, the D600 docking station can not be found (USB-A used).

I've tried it on 4 Windows 10 PCs (2x corporate pro 1x private pro and 1x home version).
One strange thing is that FW A03 is not available on Dell download any more.

Does anyone has a suggestion, how to update to FW A04?
Dell Support did not have a suggestion.

Downgrading to A02 using Dock_D6000_FW_Updater_A02_73F77.exe works (and back to A03).

@N-FI am having the same issue but I am currently on A02. You mentioned downgrading to A02 and then back to A03. By any chance do you have a copy of the A03 FW update or how were you able to install it?

Hi @ChisMo ,
I wouldn't recommend to update to A03.
There must be a reason, why Dell removed it from the download page.
But good to know, that you have the issue without having updated to A03.

Hi @ChisMo ,
I don't want to post the A03 in public.
If you give me a upload link or contact, I can provide you A03.

@N-FThanks for the reply and Hi to you too.

After updating my MBP to latest OS, the dock would not charge it. Lots of people said that updating to A03 fix the issue. (MBP will register the dock as a power source so even connecting to original charger with the dock will not work) At moment I am not able to use the dock so I either buy a new one or try A03 and hope for the best.

In terms of going from A03 to A04, I think it might be Dell's way of phasing out docks from 2018 compared to the new ones from 2021. (another reason why they might've taken down the A03) So for those who did not patch the issue back on 2019/2020 cannot do it now.

Kinda late to the topic but I am experiencing the same issue. Do you still have this A03 firmware, and can you share it with me in PM? The filename is Dock_D6000_FW_Updater_A03_T8Y8T.exe

Thanks a lot
