Hi,

Since the Cisco is in trunk mode it should be sending tagged packets, but the powerconnect is sending back untagged traffic and it doesn’t know what to do with them. Try setting the power connect to send VLAN 20 as tagged.

hi josh,

still not passing traffic.

if i put both sides into switchport access vlan 20  i can pass the vlan 20 traffic.

its just in trunk and general mode i cannot pass anything .

DELLconsole#show running-config interface ethernet 2/g17
description "Uplinkto9300'"
mtu 9216
switchport mode general
switchport general pvid 20
switchport general allowed vlan add 7,10,20 tagged
switchport general allowed vlan remove 1

CISCO

Building configuration...

Current configuration : 154 bytes
!
interface GigabitEthernet1/0/1
description UplinkDELL
switchport trunk native vlan 20
switchport trunk allowed vlan 7,10
switchport mode trunk
end

Trunk ports don’t have a native VLAN. Why do you need an untagged VLAN between the switches?

vlan 20 is not tagged its just the defaut vlan for the data lan

we do not use vlan 1

Ok, everything else looks fine from the current configuration so it should work. Is the firmware up to date?

i dont think so

 current F/W = 3.3.17.1

can you suggest a latest stable version to upgrade to?

It shouldn’t cause any interruption.
