U2718Q, XPS 15 9570, HDMI to HDMI cable, no image

I bought a new laptop and monitor from Dell. The monitor doesn't "see" the video signal using HDMI ports on laptop and monitor. Monitor does work however with the supplied mDP to DP cable connected to an old MacBook Pro. Should it work with my new XPS 15-9570 using a HDMI cable? What can be the problem and how can it be solved?

Thanks in advance!

XPS 15 9570 video out ports = HDMI/TB3/USB Type-C
U2718Q video in ports = HDMI/DP/mDP

* Turn the U2718Q and XPS 15 9570 off
* Disconnect the every cable and USB device from the XPS 15 9570
* Connect ONLY the AC power adapter to the XPS 15 9570
* Open the lid and turn the XPS 15 9570 on
* Once into Windows, turn the XPS 15 9570 off

* Connect like this =
- XPS 15 9570 HDMI out port --> HDMI to HDMI cable --> U2718Q HDMI in port
- XPS 15 9570 left side USB port --> U2718Q USB 3.0 Upstream cable --> U2718Q USB upstream port

* Turn the XPS 15 9570 on, then the U2718Q
* Press the U2718Q Input Source button
* Check HDMI
* Change Auto Select to Off
* Exit the U2718Q Menu

Does anything appear on the U2718Q screen?

I have the same problem connecting my Lenovo Flex 5 1570 with the U2718Q with an HDMI to HDMI cable. No image, and monitor shows a message about mDP not being connected.

The Quick Install also says to use the included cable to connect mDP on monitor to DP on computer.,

Is U2718Q supposed to work with a HDMI to HDMI connection?

I do not have DP on my laptop. What other connections work?

* Press the U2718Q Input Source button
* Check HDMI
* Change Auto Select to Off
* Exit the U2718Q Menu
