8300 Fan speed varies?

Question

I have a Dimension 8300 with a ATI Radeon 9800 video card.  I notice the fan speed varies (unsure if it is the CPU fan, power supply fan, or the graphics card fan). When I'm surfing the web the fan doesn't speed up - it remains constant. When I'm playing a graphics instense 3D game like Delta Force Black Hawk Down is when I noticed the sound of the fan speeding up and slowing down.  Does anyone know if this varying fan speed is normal during intense operations? Murf

I read an article just 2 days ago that said this is correct, I think you may hear a varying of the speed, depending on the graphics. Spec are super on that model!

The 9700 Pro fan speed also increases during intense graphics. It doesn't go up and down, but gradually increases it seems as loading persists.

sounds like a temperature sensitive fan.if the temp of your graphics card or cpu go up,the fan will kick in and run faster.once the temp drops the fan will lower in speed
