Yeah, that will work, hmm, the bios i'm not sure though, idk which i have, once i do i'll tell you and you can just flash to that one because i have the geforce 4 440 go, although, i do suggest you upgrade to the ATI Radeon Mobility 9000, better card.
CSmith06 is right, the ATI Radeon Mobility 9000 is a better card. I had a G4 440 in my I 8200 and it worked fine, but I did see a big difference when I changed to a M9. I think I read that the bios need to be A06 or better.
CSmith06, I did the 60MB 7K HDD then the M9. There was a big performance increase after each upgrade. Games run real smooth.
Yeah, but I'm just a kid, I can't afford that yet, I'm thinking of saving up my money for either the 5400 rpm or 7200 rpm hitachi drive then getting 256 MB more ram (that's a definite) and then maybe getting the M9, probably not though because I don't have $500 lying around anywhere to include all those upgrades, I can handle the $300 or so though. I think of it this way though, by the time I get to college, I'll have a notebook that will kick the c**p out of anything around now. X-Bit labs says that by the end of Q4 2004 a 3.73 Ghz Mobile chip from Intel will be out, i think it was Q4 2004 I might be mistaken. So i also figure by then, three years if you count this year, the laptops will have like 384MB video card, 4 Ghz or higher processors, blindingly fast and massive hard drives, Ghz fsb at least, amazing lcds, or maybe even some organic light emitter, i think it's called that, OLE or something like that...organic something, i was reading it in PC Mag in the summer... GB's of ram, at least dvd writers maybe another format will be out by then who knows, they'll also be really light and cool and have shockingly long battery life.
Check here, http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=100519 they have the 60GB K7 for $232.50, and I think free shipping. So both are about $380.00. If you have a 4200rpm hard drive now then you will see a big speed boost If you install a K7, that should be your first upgrade. A ram upgrade will help also, you want at last 512. hang in there it will all come together in time.
Yea i was thinking more along the lines of the Radeon 9000 mobility myself but I heard stories about it screwing up due to some peoples lcd displays. Something was incompatible or something like that. If anyone knows how to make sure mine would work thatd be some really helpful information. Thanks again
