Have you upgraded the ram recently?  If so make sure it is the right MHz and seated properly.  This might help.

This is a common problem with the 8600, and resolved by calling dell and having them replace the motherboard.

this is my second HD!!!!

...I have just spoken to Dell and they are going to replace the memory, HD and motherboard........Although I appreciate the fact that this may improve, When you use a computer you would expect it to work....

 

This is great but its really wasting my time .

Replacing the HD wouldn't have fixed it. But it happens, and things like this happen with every computer...

Hello,

I had the same problem with my 8200, I think you definity need to "RESEAT" your ram, if you know how to do this , it takes 3 minutes, just remove your ram from your computer, then place them back firmly. This took care of it. Also I took my whole computer apart and cleaned off any dust that may have been on the heat sink
