Inspiron 15 7000 keyboard lights blinking, won't turn on

My Inspiron 15 series 7000 was working fine, but I just tried to turn it on (no error message appeared), but the keyboard lights starting blinking (every two seconds or so) and the screen is black. The power button light is off with no color light. I tried holding the power button light for 30 seconds and nothing has changed. I tried removing the battery and nothing has changed. Please help.

Lauren.swanson11,

Which specific Inspiron 15 7000 series computer do you have? Remove the battery and unplug the power adapter. Hold the power button down for 30 seconds and plug the adapter back in, turn the system on.

Still not resolved? Use the "Get Help Now" option at the bottom right to chat with a Dell technician right away.

I tried this and I also noticed in another post to take the ram out and spray it with air

I have an inspiron 13 7000 series

I removed the battery

Plugged it in and pressed the power for 30 seconds

I also tried with no power and pressed the power for 30 seconds and then plugged it it

Any other suggestions

Same problem here. ST: . 2 laptops with this same issue. Taken Dell Inspiron off approved list for our organization until this issue is resolved.

similar issueon myInspiron 7568 2-in-1.

first i opened the back cover and remove ram and battery and held down power button for 30 seconds and pressed the other buttons on the side multiple times. this did not seem to make a difference.

then i removed every connector on the motherboard. then i connected only the connector that the power button uses and held down power button for 30 seconds and pressed the other buttons on the side multiple times. system started to flash white and orange LEDs. assuming this was the warning of no video I connected the video cable for the laptop display. Then the system POSTED and i saw the Dell logo. POST warned me the HD was not connected. I then one by one connected the other connectors back onto the motherboard starting with the keyboard and then the trackpad. Once they were connected I could hit F2 to get into the BIOS and navigate. I see no errors anywhere to explain what had happened. Each connector i did connect to the motherboard I hit the power button and watch POST again to make sure a specific connection did not change behavior. the last connector i connected was for the hard drive. once I connected the HD then the system booted into windows

hope this helps

It looks like it should help, but I’m clueless to fix it. I’ve used this laptop maybe 10 times in 2 years and this happens. Another Dell bites the dust. So over it.

Can some Dell person prove me wrong and provide us with a schematic or something to help us fix this ourselves instead of ghosting per usual

Disconnected the AC adapter and the “Main” battery. Disconnected the “Coin-Cell” battery. Connected the AC adapter for 5-10 seconds. Then disconnected the AC adapter. Reconnected the “Coin-Cell and Main” batteries. Turned the laptop over and opened the lid. Then connected the AC adapter. It did not try to boot automatically 3 times. Dell use to give good service and their computers be it a Laptop or a Dell Desktop. I will have mine build from now on from AVA Direct. Might cost just a little more but they last I have one I purchased from them in 2007 that was Windows Pro 64-Bit XP and was given free updates to the newer systems as they came out and now it's still running Windows 10 Pro. I have it blocked from Windows 11 Pro for right now.

update on 12/17/2021:

I did go thru the process that I posted on 12/28/2020 3 times before the issues stopped happening. In between I also updated the BIOS on the machine to the latest version. So I imagine that is an integral step once you get it going update the BIOS to the latest version Dell has on it's drivers page for this system. I also never use the sleep option anymore. In windows->control panel->power options I changed pressing the power button to be shutdown rather than by default it was sleep.
