As regards your files etc being lost I am afraid that is the risk we all take with any computer company when we send in stuff for repair. This would be on the Dell T&Cs also.
Your best best option in this case would be to call the tech support and explain all your concerns.

I would request you to send the computer to the depot for a thorough repair of the computer. I will personally monitor this case. Before sending the computer to DELL, please take a back up of all the data on your computer. However before you send the computer to DELL, we can run some diagnostics on the computer to fix the wireless issue and also to identify if there any other issues that the system might be facing.
I'm sorry for the whole ordeal you had to go through. I also see another thread on the Dell community forum regarding your DELL U3417W monitor. Are you using the monitor with the XPS 13 9370 computer? Kindly brief us about the issue you are facing with the Monitor. We would be glad to assist you.
