8 mm is pretty thick for a notebook SSD. The increased dimensions are for the RGB which on a laptop is pointless as you will not see the lighting. Also the 8mm thickness would be a problem in a laptop.There are a number of other M.2 SSDs with similar performance such as the Adata SX8200 Pro. Considering the cost the SX6000 Lite would be fine and the speed difference would not be that noticeable in every day use.

The only M.2 NVMe/PCIe SSD that has given users problems was the Samsung 970. For some users it works fine and for others they have had some problems with compatibility. I have used Adata with success and any quality drive should be fine. Also Crucial guarantees compatibility with up to a 1 TB M.2 SSD so you should have no trouble with any drive up to and including that size.
