I've been experiencing the exact same issue as well - some games just don't have audio, however when I switch to a different device (e.g. USB speakers) the audio works fine.
I tried reinstalling the audio drivers to no avail.
Additionally, while normally the audio is just not there, when booting Oxygen Not Included the game specifically says that it could not initialise the device.
Update the realtek drivers that are out and see if that doesn't help. Anything past the 17 R3 and 15 R2 the sound driver is just terrible sense Alienware cut corners and did away with the Klipsh sound. Dont know why really.. Speakers they use are terrible and never cared for realtek's audio reliability. Always found them to be junk.

Welcome. Check the sound manager. I had a similar problem and some applications are muted by default.

Hi @mubz04,
So the system does have sound in some games?
Try uninstalling and reinstalling the audio driver.
Also, check the game settings.
