can I replace a PERC H710 with H310

I realize this is the opposite direction most would go (i.e. this would be a "downgrade").

I have the H710 in a Precision Workstation and it's running very hot due to less airflow compared to server cabinets.  As the workstation seems unstable, I'm looking to swap-out components until I can find the issue.

I have a H310 on the shelf and realize I lose on-board processing.

But is it possible to swap out the H710 for the H310, import the foreign config, and not lose any data on connected disks?

Appreciate any insight.
