Thank you for your reply.  Does this mean that there is no order requirements for all the drivers with a category of "Chipset"?  I don't need to worry about the order that I install these specific drivers?

  • Intel Management Engine Components Installer
  • Intel USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver
  • ST Microelectronics Free Fall Data Protection Driver
  • O2 Micro OZ600xxx memory card reader Driver
  • Intel Management Engine 8.x Components Installer Driver

None of those.

You are missing one.

Thank you for your continued help.  Unfortunately, there aren't any other "chipset" category drivers listed for my service tag.  Do you know which chipset driver I should be downloading for the Dell Latitude E6430 running Windows 7 Pro 64-bit?  I put the entire list of drivers that are listed for my service tag in my original post.

If I disable "Show drivers for Service Tag XXXXXX", then there is one "Chipset Device" driver listed for Windows 7 64-bit:

Intel Chipset Device Software

Are you saying I need to download and install that chipset driver first even though it isn't showing up as applicable to my service tag?

Any reason why you don't think it is necessary to install that one?

The reason I wasn't sure is that I entered my exact service tag for my laptop and it does not show up when I have the "Show drivers for Service Tag XXXXXXX" checked/enabled (replace XXXXXXX with my actual service tag).  It only appears once I uncheck the box "Show drivers for Service Tag XXXXXXX".  Therefore, I was concerned about installing a driver that is possibly not applicable to my computers exact configuration.  But if you think I need to install that driver and its possibly just a mistake on the driver download list associated with my service tag, then I can do that.  Just looking for confirmation.  Thank you again.

Welcome to the Dell Community  @brianl19

Are you the original owner of the laptop???

If not then using the "Service Tag" recommended drivers should only be a guide.

The Intel Chipset Device Software should be the first of the Chipset drivers to be installed.

If nVIDIA is installed the Intel Video Drivers should always be installed first.

If a WiFi Bluetooth combo card is installed always install the WiFi driver first.

Over the years the laptop may have had a new HDD/SSD, CPU, WiFi Card or a WWAN card added.

So again the "Service Tag" recommended drivers should only be used as a guide.

Best regards,

U2

Thank you, @U2CAMEB4ME

I am the original owner of the laptop.  It is a work laptop I am reconditioning for lab use.  There is no nVIDIA card that I am aware of.  Not sure whether there is a WiFi Bluetooth combo card installed, but I don't think so.  I did have a new HD installed at one point.

Any ways, thank you for your help.  I will attempt to reinstall Windows 7 with the recovery tool I downloaded from Dell's website and then reinstall the drivers starting with the Chipset Device Software.  Hopefully that will work to get the USB3.0 ports working (otherwise this laptop end up only having one USB port, which is definitely suboptimal.

Well, I followed the installation order making sure to install the chipset drivers first and the USB 3.0 ports on the right side of the E6430 are still not recognizing devices.  I've actually noticed that the installation of the USB 3.0 driver is failing by causing a blue screen of death near the end of the installation.  I am going to open a new discussion thread to see if anyone else has discovered a solution to this issue.

Thanks again for all your help and responses.
