vCenter config VM image backups being restored to VxRail config - issues?

Is there any reason to be concerned that a VM image backup, that was taken from a vCenter/vSphere environment and hardware, would encounter any difficulties if it was restore to a VxRail environment and hardware? Asking because a customer asked me, and I didn't think so, but wasn't sure.

My thought was that fundamentally, what is being backed up are the various files and information that define the virtual machine. So when the restore is performed, I would only potentially expect the restore process to be different (relative to it interfacing with a "different" platform); but one would still be restoring the various files and information to a system that theoretically will be interpreting them the same way, even if it is potentially "arranging" them differently.

The accompanying concern was whether a granular restore from a vCenter/vSphere environment and hardware would encounter any difficulties if it was restore to a VxRail environment and hardware. I did not go into detail with the customer, but again, the only real difference I would expect is within the restore mechanism that brings in the data, not the data itself.

Would like to know if there are any white papers or other documents that go over these kind of details. Haven't found anything on the Support site yet, but as with most Internet searches, if I'm not asking the right question, I won't find the right answer.

All feedback/comments appreciated - thanks.
