AW3420DW, image burn on new monitor?
It has only been on for 15 minutes and I noticed after switching inputs, the image from my pc. Can this be fixed or do I need a replacement? Seriously shouldn’t happen on a BRAND NEW $1000 monitor.

Does restarting the pc make it go away? That may be a hot plug detection issue on the gpu.

When I switch from the DP to HDMI I still have a image from the DP instead of the HDMI is it because it’s burnt into the the screen? Look at the pictures I posted, is that normal?

Explain what you mean by switching inputs. "after switching inputs, the image from my pc." doesn't make sense to me. See if the manual helps--

It’s on the stock vaules? Do they ship it with over contrast? I’m probably shipping it back and going ASUS.

The image persistence may be an problem with the osd overdrive settings on the monitor. Or to much contrast (volts) going to the pixels. It is ugly yea but unlikely to cause permanent damage. Perhaps contact Dell directly for more technical troubleshooting

Hopefully, it is just "Image Retention" and not burn-in. In the monitor's menu, see if there is a (color flashing) utility you can run to exercise it away.
The Ultra-HD IPS-LCD on my Lenovo X1-Carbon (Gen-2) started "image retention-ing" at 3-years old. I guess it is considered "old" now-days ... but still lame for a $2000 laptop.

My problem, if that is the issue, I wouldn’t want to do that ever time I change games or watch a movie. Because that would be annoying... I’m just going to say it must be a bad panel. If it isn’t, this is unacceptable for a brand new product and I’m going to a different brand. This is what a black screen looks like after playing rocket league for 30 minutes. And before that I watched a 30 minute show with the girlfriend. Reason why there are lines at the 16:9 section.
also I don’t see a tool for on the onscreen menu to flash colors or whatever.

I've had good luck with the Dell Ultra-Sharps.
Also, LG has a comparable professional series . I might try one of those next.

OMG! Are you serious? Wow I was just about to buy this monitor. I haven't seen other people having the same issue, least not yet.

I’m not talking about the panel, I’m talking about the style and the look.

the build quality is amazing on this monitor
--------------------
Scenario 1: Out-of-Box Failure
Scenario 2: Lasted 15 minutes
What is so amazing about that? Is today "opposite day" ?

Well you can always chance it.. the build quality is amazing on this monitor, It really is a beautiful monitor and I’m really hoping mine is just a bad panel maybe from shipping or something.

Well, I still have a hard time believing it would be something normal. I have a 7 year old laptop I keep on and its still has zero burn-in anywhere, not even the taskbar.
Since you are in the return window, let us know how it goes with a new one.
