9550 Touchpad

The touchpad on my XPS 15 9550 suddenly stopped working properly, the Right-click no longer works, nor does left-click and drag, all other touchpad functions work normally, so do mouses and touch screen. The same behavior in 'Safe modes' and a system restore did not fix it, I have gone over and tried differet touchpad settings but nothing helps. I did find work arounds, Two-finger gesture right-click and double left-click and drag.

I am also having trouble finding the drivers on the Dell website, when I enter the service tag for the "touchpad driver" it states "No drivers found"

Thanks for any help

I have exactly the same problem. Anyone know how to fix it?

Remove the base cover and carefully check the battery (directly under the touchpad) for signs of swelling.  If it's swelling, remove it and dispose of it immediately.

A raised touchpad is indeed an indicator of a swollen battery.  An even earlier indication is a touchpad that's difficult or impossible to press.

Thanks @ejn63 . That makes sense, I will open it up ASAP and inspect it. I've been in there before to replace the power jack.

Thanks, the touchpad is not raised up in that area, which I read is an indication of battery swelling but I will check it out internally ASAP.
