i have figured out the keyboard situation myself.  I just checked under settings - control panel - keyboard and  in those tabs there were something called an ACCESS DIRECT tab which allows you to configure the buttons.  :) Soo I just need sugguestions for the sound display now..

hey

i wonder if you are referring to the speaker icon that displays in the system tray;
i know when you single-click on it, a volume slider comes up.. is this what you wanted?
anyway if it is, it should be in Sound and Audio Device Properties , under the control panel. put a check in 'Place volume icon in taskbar'

hope this helps

When I got my 8200 with the enhanced keyboard , anytime I depressed any of the sound keys a volume controls bars woud display on the bottom part of my crt display with increasing number of bars as I increased the volume. Anyway the bars no longer display when I depress the keyboard sound keys ?  I can work the volume from the sound icon on the taskbar............. My question is how do I put the volume bars back on the screen ?

Dell QuickSet will do this for you, but I suggest you don't use any of the power management stuff cuz it screws with you comp.
