2 thoughts: you may have to add that resolution manually by editting the .ini files in the driver. Alternatively, the monitor may simply not support it.
I just tried the 44.25 driver with the same results. 1400 x 1050 is not an option for the monitor unless I dual mode with the LCD. Has anyone else solved this stupid problem yet???
I am having this problem also... I have tried numerous drivers, etc, and still NOTHING.
Has anyone solved this? Why is this even a problem? Why isn't anyone from Dell even answering this thread? I would appreciate a response, even if it's "We have no idea. You are doomed." Then I could stop trying....
Woohoo. Just FYI, I was able to get 1400x1050 working on an external monitor with no service pack and the original drivers that came with my laptop - but this configuration did NOT work on the actual laptop LCD - it showed 640x480 and crashed when i tried to change the res. So, not any better really.
