connecting XPS13 9360 to HP 22yh monitor

I recently purchased an XPS13 9360 laptop and can't figure out how to get it to recognize my HP 22yh monitor: https://www.staples.com/hp-22yh-21-5-led-backlit-monitor-16-9/product_24369206

I get a message indicating "Display connection might be limited".

I am using a USB-C to HDMI adapter (4K at 60 Hz) https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B075V68NVR/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and the HDMI-to-HDMI cable that came with the monitor. The adapter description says it's compatible with XPS13 computers.

This adapter works fine with the same monitor and a MacBook Pro, and also works when I have the XPS13 connected to an ACER monitor* (although I sometimes had to connect it a couple times to get it to recognize it).

(Please note: I'm not trying to connect more than 1 external monitor at a time - it's just that I use the computer in 2 separate locations)

Any suggestions? Dell product support has not been helpful at all.

Thank you

@Sharon Marie  Yes, SupportAssist would check for BIOS and driver updates.  In that case this may be like another very similar case I helped someone with a few months ago.  He had a USB-C to HDMI adapter that wasn't working with his system and display, even though the same adapter, cable, and display worked fine with another laptop.  Unfortunately he didn't have another display to test his original system with, but after walking him through some troubleshooting that was feasible for him to perform, I basically said, "It sounds like this will either be a problem with the USB-C output on your system, which would require a motherboard replacement, or else a bizarre interoperability problem that affects the specific combination of your laptop and your particular USB-C to HDMI adapter, even though the adapter works fine with another device.  Since a motherboard replacement would be a major and fairly expensive ordeal, I would consider purchasing a different brand of USB-C to HDMI adapter just to see if that works."  He did the latter, and the second one he bought worked properly with both of his systems.

As irritating as it is, there are all sort of cases in the tech world of things that SHOULD work but don't ACTUALLY work.  If you'd like a recommendation for an alternative product, a friend of mine who has an XPS 13 9360 has this adapter that works fine.  Or if you want to spend a bit on futureproofing, there's this adapter that can support up to 4K 60 Hz with HDR when connected to a system that supports DisplayPort 1.4 over USB-C.  Your current system doesn't, but whatever system you buy next likely will, so if you think you might want to use that system on a 4K HDR TV, it will be ready for that.  In the meantime, then barring any similar bizarre interoperability issues, it will work with your current system just fine up to 4K 60 Hz SDR (i.e. non-HDR).

@Sharon Marie  That should be completely plug and play.  If you haven't already, make sure you've updated the system BIOS and Intel Graphics drivers to the latest available versions.

I ran the Support Assist app and checked to see if any drivers needed to be updated. They did not. Should this be sufficient?

Thanks'

@Sharon Marie  Great news, and thanks for reporting back!  Sorry you had the aggravation with the first adapter that should have worked, but good to hear you've found options that work as expected.
