Is this a new problem?

When the computer is on, did you press/release the button on bottom edge of screen to cycle the video input source between internal and an external HDMI source like a a game box or DVD player?

Was PC fully powered off when you pressed and held that same button to launch the self-tests?

May be time to contact Dell Tech Support, assuming PC is under warranty. Have Service Tag handy.

Thanks for your reply, Ron. Yes, I pressed the button on the lower right to try to cycle the video input. And yes, I also powered the computer off before holding the button down for the self test.

@e3stgs  - Boot with external monitor connected and see if you have the Dell On-Screen Display App installed.

If you have it, uninstall it on the Win 10 Add/Remove screen. Then reboot and install a fresh download of that app. Reboot again and see if the LCD panel works now, including pressing the buttons to run the tests and the one to change the HDMI source.

If that doesn't help, contact Dell Tech Support...

Thanks again, Ron. I tried uninstalling Dell OSD, but no luck. I reinstalled it and tried again as well. I contacted Dell, but the computer is over a year old and out of warranty. I am pretty sure it is a bad LCD, especially considering I get nothing on the self-test and the external monitor works perfectly. Thanks for your help.

Sorry that didn't help, but at least an external monitor works so you can still use the PC.

You could contact Dell's Out of Warranty Repairs to get an estimate to fix it.

Back up all personal files on external media and make sure you have the product keys for all installed apps before sending it in for repair, assuming you do...

I ordered a screen, so we will see if that fixes it. Thanks again for the help.

The screen did not resolve the problem. Same symptoms. Blank screen, nothing at all, but external monitor works perfectly. Touch works too, but just no picture. Not sure what it could be. Please let me know if you have any other ideas.

Do we know the new screen works?

Did you try resetting BIOS by removing the motherboard battery and pressing/holding the power button on PC for ~30 sec, before reinstalling the battery?

If the screen replacement and clearing BIOS don't help, then it could be the GPU that's attached to the motherboard, or motherboard itself, or possibly even the power adapter.

Power the PC off and disconnect external monitor and the power adapter. Press/hold PC's power button for ~30 sec. Reconnect power adapter (but not external monitor) and power on. Carefully watch the power button and count the (amber) blinks. That's an error code which you can look up here.

Turns out it was the motherboard. Replaced it and no display issues. Luckily I had a working unit to swap and test. It threw me off that it worked perfectly with an external monitor. Thanks for all your help.
