Latitude 5591 - is 64GB RAM possible?

Hi,

Is it by any chance possible to install 64GB of RAM in Latitude 5591?

I know max specified in documentation is 32GB but CPU supports 64 (Intel 8850H) so I'm wondering if the laptop can handle more then stated max.

I tested 32GB module and it didn't work, laptop didn't start, it wasn't even possible to enter the BIOS. So it's not possible to have more than 32GB.

It isn't supported, either by Dell or by Crucial

https://www.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/dell/latitude-5591

so, while you're welcome to try -- be sure if you order RAM that you understand your reseller's restocking fee and shipping charges policy because there's a good chance you'll be making a return when it does not work.

Welcome to the Dell Community @xeya and @PeacefulMonk

As stated the i7-8850H can handle 64GB of memory.

So I would say that 64GB is possible.

The manual and Crucial are good for reference but it is not the limit of the hardware.

That's why Crucial includes this disclaimer:

"Not to exceed manufacturer supported memory."

Best regards,

U2
