bios updates tend to require pre requisites. You cannot go from A00 to A22 in one step.  ANY antivirus software installed can brick your machine permanently. Uninstall anti virus or make MSDOS usb2 key to update bios. Updates must be run as administrator.

Its usually A00 to A05 to A11 to A16 to A20 to A22. etc.

If you cannot jump from your current position the update will tell you what minimum is required to get to the end.

Models that have a Micro version usually DO NOT support the Micro bios being used on Desktop SFF MT etc.

Upgrading the Currently Released BIOS Images (Pr-Secure boot released BIOS) and UEFI 2.3.1  Enhanced BIOS Images (Current released BIOS)
The new Secure Boot BIOS contains new features and behavior.

Latest bios also prevents downgrade so be sure if you are going to change it because its a one way trip.  If it wasn't incremental the old versions would be gone.

Dell Fast Boot BIOS Feature:
The Dell Secure boot BIOS adds a new feature that is called Fast Boot.
When upgrading from a OLD BIOS to a Secure Boot BIOS this feature will be set in Thorough mode.

Setting this feature in minimal causes USB F12 boot devices/ports to be disabled in the pre-OS environment.

If you are dependent on USB2 devices in the pre-OS environment this setting should remain in the Thorough mode setting.

A22 is Latest AFAIKT

Yes, you can run it, but I don't know the minimum BIOS you need.  However, it's a good idea to have the latest BIOS first when upgrading hardware.

Thanks for getting back to me! Do you know if the BIOS updates are incremental? As in, do I need to do each one in turn up to the latest or just the latest and that will include all previous?

Many thanks

The Dell site will scan your system and should tell you if you need to update in a couple of steps first.  It did that when I had a 755 as that was the way for some older Optiplex's.  But you might not need to for a 3010.
