Connect your laptop to an external monitor. If your computer will boot and the external monitor works properly, then that means your LCD does not like your new video card.
Good Idea! The card works fine with an external monitor connected.
A lot of people have mentioned incompatibility with Hitachi screens. I'm guessing that I must have one of those...
Is there an easy way to find out what screen is installed in the laptop, aside from taking apart the screen housing?
I also need to upgrade to a UXGA screen (ie IBM 15 inch) most likely, since other users have reported success with this screen and the radeon 9000. Does anyone have part numbers for screens?
i would love to also get this upgrade can you tell me what the part numbers are for the radeon 9000 and the LCD that works with it. I have I 8100 1 ghz 512 Ram email me at kevin.germann@mailcity.com
Hello, I recently got a Mobility Radeon 9000 and tried to install it in my Dell Inspiron 8100 laptop. I was ecstatic until I actually got it installed. :( I powered the computer on and the screen immediately came up garbled! I thought I may have an incompatible screen since it is SXGA, so I tried an external monitor. It was still garbled! Is it safe to assume I have a defective card? When I look at it, I don't see any clear defects on it ie no burns or anything. I REALLY want it to work! Could someone please confirm that I have a DOA card? I cartainly hope not! Thanks!
