I can only suggest what works for me, after I got my R9 I downloaded "Nvidia GeForce Experience" from the Nvidia website. I let it handle any Nvidia driver downloads or updates for my twin RTX 2080 Supers in SLI.
Around eight months of no problems. Your mileage may vary and some folks like to do this sort of thing manually, but this has worked fine for me. I like to use my computer for work and fun, not have to work on my computer.
