Thanks for the tips.  I have an M782p and had done everything you suggested but the clear type fonts.  This made it even better.  I had just gotten a 992 at work yesterday.  That prompted me to look at your message.  I don't have administrative rights at work but I made the changes that I could.  I love this forum and thank good people like you for sharing what you can.

I don't have the options that you suggest.  I have Dimension 4100 w/ NVIDIA 64MB GeForce2 MX with TV out.  The display properties allow me to change to large fonts.  I also have color correction tabs that I used to decrease the brightness and also the gamma.  I am happy with the picture but on the original Trinitron I didn't have to do this.  It was a 17" so the comparison may not be fair.

The clear type fonts are what I'm curious about.  I could not find a setting for this anywhere. I am using Win2000.  SP3

Thanks for your help.

JB

Sorry, Windows 2000 does not support clear type fonts.  For more information on Clear Type for Windows XP go to http://www.microsoft.com/typography/cleartype/tuner/1.htm?fname=%20&fsize=

Thanks for the reply.  I remember now where I had read about "Clear Type" fonts.  I would highly recommend following this link to an excellent article.  I wish I could benefit from sub-pixel rendering on my computer.  This article describes the origins of this technology and demonstrates Microsoft's rip-off of another "small fish".

P.S.  I found that using 4x anti-aliasing is my only option.  This did help.

CrusaderX--
Wow, I just made the change to large font and it made the world of difference! I was happy enough with the standard size, but the large made it sharper, more readable. I left the dpi at 96....120 made it way too large. Thanks for the tip!
