reburn, what are the specs of the 5100 they gave you?

hey all.  I have returned.  I also received a New Inspiron 5100 from the friendly folks at Dell Canada.  It is unbelievable better than the smartstep.  IT WORKS!!!

I posted problems playing some games, overheating to the extreme, shutdowns, slowdowns, etc on the smartstep.  Never happens on the 5100!!

Specs are same as smartstep except for:

faster cd-rw/dvd

faster cpu - min is 2.4 ghz.

usb 2.0 ports

no serial, parallel ports

external floopy drive.

 

Make the change, be forcefull, make them give you a working machine!

Sharkyn - The Specs he would have gotten would have been the Same as the SmartStep, Dell will not Downgrade. and to the others who are wondering who to contact on this matter you will first need to be contacting Technical support (DO NOT CALL CUSTOMER SERVICE) get a couple system exchanges just to prove they all have problems, demand to speak to suprivisors and management and build yourself up a case(Not that I ever wanted too) after you have proof on their records that they have pretty much ripped you off (btw keep all paper work and E-mails) then write the BBB make a legit complaint and write it out seriously, you will then be contacted by a manager (do not demand money back they will not give it to you) Just simply say you want something thats not a SmartStep reguardless and Viola!

Lucky  you mine  didn't work since  i bought,  cannot  even play  a  game  that came  with, Crashes  ....so i've  tried  everything, but  came   to  a  conclusion ..  i've  burned  almost  1400 bucks....warranty run  out too.....

Well, I sent mine back twice, maybe now they will exchange it. I will give it a try.
