Purple glitch from bottom of screen

Question

I have a Dell Inspiron 15 7000 Gaming,l which is roughly 4 years old. Starting a few weeks ago, I keep getting an intermittent purple glitch type phenomena happening on the laptop screen. I use an extended screen display, and the issue does not affect the second screen which is a seperate dell monitor. This purple error seems to make its way up from the bottom of the screen, and requires a laptop restart to go back to normal operation. I took a video of what's happening, but it will not let me attach it here. I have attached a few photos showing what the screen displays during this error.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Start with a screen diagnostic.  Hold the D key through powerup - does the fault show on the test screens?
