Dual DVI output card for dual Dell 2000FP setul

Question

I know that this might look weird - but I tossed $$$ on two Dell 2000FP monitors. Gorgeous displays - so-so color rendition, bearable dead pixels (2 on one, 1 on the other). However - I would plan to use the two monitors with two computers - both with dual-head cards. I would use one with the VGA analog inputs (with a NVidia 4600 card) as the day by day computer - and the other with a dual-DVI as a primary video-2d and some 3d modelling workstation. Any experience with dual DVI cards running at 1600x1200? I bought a dual DVI matrox 550 - and that runs only at dual 1280x1024. The other options with dual dvi seem to be Quadro 900/980 (supposedly works on 2x1600x1200), FireGL 4 (does not work on 2x1600x1200), Parhelia (works at 1600x1200 - but with no third head enabled) and FireGL X1 - have no clue at what resolution it works. So - before spending another $$$ on the card - if someone has any advice/experience - it will be strongly appreciated. Thank you, cdusa

The Gainward GeForce4 PowerPack! Ultra/750 XP TV/VIVO Golden Sample 128MB works fine at 1600x1200 through both DVI connectors.

I have a used Quadro 2 Pro on the way to use with my two 2001FPs. If that does not work, I'll get an Appian Typhoon. Both 'should' work in my 4x AGP slot Precision 340. We'll see.

ultimately - i went for a Quadro 980XGL - dual DVI. Great card - reasonable price. First one was deffective - bad secondary DVI output - second one (good support - PNY!) works like a charm. Dual DVI-I with dual accelerated OpenGL - what a view!

A word of caution with the Appian Typhoon card:  I learned today that the Appian Typhoon has a compatibility problem with the Dell Ultrasharp flat panel monitors.  My setup is a Dell Optiplex GX240 with Appian Typhoon AGP and dual Dell Ultrasharp 1703FP monitors.  With this setup the secondary monitor intermittently goes dark.  Very annoying.  I figured it must be the Appian card because the Ultrasharp did not flicker like that with my old video card analog output.  When I called Appian tech support they instantly identified the problem as a compatibility issue between their card and the Dell Ultrasharp.  They said it was a DVI timing issue.  The only solution offered was to use analog for the secondary monitor.  I purchased a dual-DVI card to get the advantage of higher-quality DVI output.  So, I'm returning the Appian card to Dell and plan to try a different dual DVI card.
