Not really an answer, but low battery life might just be a Dell thing. I bought a X17 in 2014, and the battery life was always fairly short. Granted you can tinker with power plan settings to stretch out the battery life.
Not sure what you can do about the keyboard outside of sending it in for repair, or using the warranty assuming it hasn't expired.
