Will increasing the RAM provide better graphics performance? If so, what is the max # of ram before you are wasting your money?

yes.  upgrade to 16 GB is good enough for gaming.  beyond that would be wasteful for gaming.  more memory is good if you do video encoding or 3D rendering.

this is probably the Dell ram in your pc

PART NUMBER DESCRIPTION QUANTITY
9CXF2 DIMM,8GB,3200,1RX16,16,DDR4,NU 1

9CXF2 8GB DDR4, 3200MHz, 1Gx64, Unbuffered, 288 pin, Single Rank, 1.2V, Non-ECC, Non-Encrypted Adata AO2P32NC8W1-BD3SHC, Hynix HMAA1GU6CJR6N-XN, Kingston K9CXF2-MIB/K9CXF2-MIE, Micron MTA4ATF1G64AZ-3G2B1/MTA4ATF1G64AZ-3G2E1, Samsung M378A1G44AB0-CWE/M378A1G44BB0-CWE

any ram above should work to match your Dell 8 GB.  I suggest Hynix HMAA1GU6CJR6N-XN $49.  it is one of the Dell ram maker.  it is also the top ram in user validation for G5 5000.

the following is user validated 2x8 gb in G5 5000.
