Sorry, nevermind.  I guess it helped me to step away from the computer for a few minutes.  I had to change the resolution and now it is fine.  The odd thing was, the resolution slider under display options would not 'slide'.  I had to click on the right edge of the setting to get it to change.  Sorry to bother.  Have a good evening.  Downloading the drivers fixed the problem.

It is the video driver.

install all of the drivers from your dell cd - reboot and then you should be able to set the correct resolution.

I also had to reformt ny inspiron 1100 and now I can't increase the resolution. What do I need to do? Thanks for your help
