Battery life on my 8600 is well over 4hours. Mostly due to the fact that I keep my screen brightness at level 2-3. This is a great computer and it only weighs 2lbs more than the 600m. I use to own the 600m and had to upgrade to the 8600 because of the better graphics capability. So if I was you, I would go with the 8600.
Sorry, not quite sure. I have heard that others can watch a full length movie no prob. Like I said earlier though, I keep my brightness on the lower end because the screen brightness consumes a considerable amount of power. I can easily read the screen at level 2. Watching movies also requires minimal processor speed so I can assume watching a movie at my settings requires no more power than my multitasking. In any case, BUY THE 8600! You will not regret it.
