Anything that is listed on the Windows Setup tab can be installed from your ME Recovery CD. Place a check mark by each item you wish to install, click the Apply button, then OK out. If this is what you are doing and it is not successful please post the exact error message you receive when you attempt to add the items.
I have a CD that is labled OPERATING SYSTEM/Reinstallation CD WME Only use this CD to reinstall the operating system on a Dell Computer. This CD is not for reinstallation of programs or drivers. I have some others but none of them say recovery CD. What can I do now? Would you like me to list all of the other CD that came with my computer? Thank you
The reintallation CD is the one CD that you should use. (Dell uses different terminology for reinstallation CDs for different operating systems.) It contains all of the system files for Windows ME (including those which are required to install Windows components).
I want to make sure I do this correctly. I turn the computer on then I take the
"OPERATING SYSTEM" Reinstallation CD WME put it in the CD drive then it will display what is on the CD and I choose what I am missing and then install the programs??? Is this the correct way to do this? I do not want to reinstall Windows ME. Putting this CD in the drive will not reinstall Windows ME is this correct?????Thanks
Go to Start|Settings|Control Panel|Add/Remove Programs|Windows Setup tab. Place a check mark by each of the items you wish to install from the ME CD then click Apply. You should be prompted to insert the CD. If it is already in the drive Windows will automatically go to it and extract the files required to install the options you have selected.
After I click Apply.....I get a message that says......The File 'BASEBA~1.ANI' was not found. Windows needs the Disk labeled' Windows Millennium Edition' to continue. The disk may be provided by your computer or device manufacturer. There is a drop down list and in it is C:\Windows\Options\cabs is listed and the other choices are;
D:\ D:\cdsampl\extras A:\
I have tried to use the operating system reinstallation CD WMe but can not seem to find what they want. What is the 'Windows Millennium EDition CD that they are refering to???
