TheGame,

It looks like it's back, so let's try this...

Reboot your computer into " Safe Mode".

Run HiJackThis and click " Config...", then " Misc Tools", then " open process manager", then...

Locate and click on(highlight) C:\WINDOWS\system32\crsAim.exe
Click " Kill process"
Double-check and make sure it isn't running.

Next, just under the process manager listbox, click " back", then click " Delete a file on reboot", browse to C:\WINDOWS\system32\crsAim.exe and double-click on it. When prompted to "reboot" select "No".

Next, in the lower right hand corner of HiJackThis, click " back" then " Scan", then check(tick) the following, if present:

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar,LinksFolderName =

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [WinRunner] C:\WINDOWS\system32\crsAim.exe

O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel present
(If you've set this from Spybot's immunize feature, then leave it, otherwise, have hjt 'fix' it.)

O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {AFC3FA82-AD07-45cd-8B57-983435B9899E} - (no file)

Now with all windows closed, click " Fix checked".

Reboot your computer normally.

Post back a new log.

Mike.

TheGame,

Wow! This one isn't going down without a fight - called some friends to play when it went down! So hang in there...

Reboot your computer into "Safe Mode".

Run "Disk Cleanup" and allow it to remove anything it finds; especially in 'temp' folders.

Run HiJackThis and  click "Scan", then check(tick) the following:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [wZg] C:\documents and settings\willsbb\local settings\temp\wZg.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [pJpkw] C:\documents and settings\willsbb\local settings\temp\pJpkw.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [mLPl] C:\documents and settings\willsbb\local settings\temp\mLPl.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [h1dbL] C:\docume~1\willsbb\locals~1\temp\h1dbL.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [FSd] C:\docume~1\willsbb\locals~1\temp\FSd.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: C:\documents and settings\willsbb\local settings\temp\D.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [c5n] C:\documents and settings\willsbb\local settings\temp\c5n.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Bc9r] C:\docume~1\willsbb\locals~1\temp\Bc9r.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [6CJ] C:\docume~1\willsbb\locals~1\temp\6CJ.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [478W33e] sor256.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Lwr6RTK3Q] penunirl.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [eZWO] C:\PROGRA~1\Web Offer\wo.exe

Now with all windows closed, click "Fix checked".

Locate and delete the following ittem(s). Make sure your able to view system and hidden files/ folders:

folder...

C:\PROGRA~1\Web Offer

Let's run " Disk Cleanup" again, and allow it to remove everything it finds; especially in 'temp' folders.

Run AdAware SE Personal and Spybot S&D and see if what they can remove.

Also, let's drop by www.trendmicro.com and click "Free Online "Scan". When it's down, select all availabel drives, then click "Scan".

Post back a new log and the results of the above scans.

Mike.

ThatGame,

Wow! I think we got it! Excellent work!

Now, let's do some cleanup work on your system:

  • Run "Disk Cleanup" and have it remove everything it finds.
  • Run AdAware SE Personal and Spybot S&D, and let it cleanup any residual registry entry(s) that HiJackThis couldn't.
  • Disable, then re-enable system restore, then immediately create a new restore point manually.

Be sure to check all users accounts on that system for signs of 'infection'.

Happy surfing,

Mike.

TheGame,

Here ya' go...

To disable, then re-enable system restore...

1) Click "Start | (right-click) My Computer | Properties | System Restore".
2) Check(tick) "Turn off system restore on all drives".
3) Click "Ok".

4) Reboot your computer.

5) Repeat step 1.
6) Uncheck "Turn off system restore on all drives".
7) Click "Ok"

See this article for additional information.

To create a restore point manually...

" Start | All Programs | Accessories | System Tools | System Restore", then check(tick) " Create a restore point" then click " Next >", enter the description of the restore point (anything you like, for example " 12/16/2004-safepoint", " MyRestorePoint-12162004", etc.,.), then click " Create".
