keyser, the A04 drivers work fine with PreA03 BIOS (and why shouldn't they?) :)

I have had zero problemans since reverting to the preA03 BIOS ... I have played several games ... 007 Nightfire, Battlefield 1942, etc with no trouble ... and NO hidden cursor!!!

Has anybody had any issues with this fix?  I'm running the A03 video bios and A04 drivers.  Do the A04 drivers work fine with the pre-A03 bios?  I've had my 8500 for a few weeks now and I'm still trying to get everything setup how I want it.  So I haven't been able to try a game that actually uses the video card.  What are the issues you guys are having when playing games with the A03 bios?  I'm not sure if I should wait until Dell posts a fix or if I should do this fix.

ReWeN, you're right it is expensive.  I got it because other forum remembers gave very good reviews on it.  Now that I have it, I think it was worth the extra $$.  It's nice little encloser.  I haven't really used it yet because when I took out my old hdd and put it in the encloser I left it just like it was from dell.  So now when I connect the hdd through the firewire port it starts copying the disk or something...like it's copying the whole 30gig onto this computer.  I don't know how to format it without booting up with it.

I successfully swapped out the video cards.  Now I'm running A03 bios + A03 drivers so of course that equation equals the A03 invisible bar on the screen.  I'm wondering if I should just put up with it until new bios or drivers are released or just use your fix.

Well, I'm using the PreA03 till A04 comes out :p

If A03 doesn't affect you then use it, but it's slower in games and causes some errors in opengl, plus that dammed bar.

Greetings from Greece,

Before upgrading to A03 Video Bios (if i knew before i wouldn't) i kept the name of the Bios A02 version. That was 4.28.20.29.D1!!!!

This means that the PreA03 BIOS given to all of us by ReWen, is just the A02 Bios we all had before upgrading and we all wanted back afterwards.

Isn't that right???

Yes, if you my post read closer you'd notice that we didn't know if it was A01 or A02 so we just called it PreA03 ;)

Ok, has anyone tried the 8500 A04 bios dell has in their downloads area?  File date 9/9/03.  If so is it any good?  Get rid of the invisible bar?

Does the A04 system bios + 8600's A04 vid card drivers fix any of these problems?

Works fine but does not get rid of the invisible bar ... the only solution so far is to revert to the pre A03 video BIOS ... the dell A04 BIOS works well this way too ...
