Do you think I would have any great risk, if I first created a Restore Point, then downloaded an xp compatable current Synaptics Touch pad driver? I know, you can't recommend that, but have you heard of anyone doing it successfully, even if not officially verified by Dell?
I also upgraded my 7500 to WinXp. I was able to get my touchpad working right by searching Synaptics in the Downloads section. I found: Input
: Synaptics Touchpad, Driver, Windows XP, Multi Language, Multi System, v. 6.0.7, A01 with the file name:
TPA01WXP.EXE.

Thank you for using Dell's Community Forum.
The Inspiron7500 never shipped with Win XP so we won’t have drivers that are specifically tested for that operating system.

Well, thanks for the reply, although a sad one.
