i have had 1mb broadband for a while now, but it still says dial up is there anyway i couyld change this to high speed internet

When you connected to Broadband, the service should have auto configured your network to a point. But I would right clikc the connection pointing to the dialup servcie and disable it.

hi from internext explorer, click tools / internet options / connect tab / select never dial a connection

Yes you can, or better yet just remove that connection from the list and then check never dial a connection.
