Like many of us with the 5150 I am not impressed with the sound. It is terrible. I taped over the speaker 'grills' on the front panel and the quality isnt good, but far better then before. It no longer gives me a headache.
Can anyone tell me if this will affect the cooling abilities of the laptop?

The 5150 speakers are at par or even a little over most laptops.
If its so terrible get some decent external speakers.

Guess it deadens the treble.
I agree, Dell speakers sound better than most other notebooks, except the Toshiba line that has HK speakers.
